Icy Soles and Wide-Open Mesh Make Their Way to the Air Max 95 Essential
For almost 25 years, the Nike Air Max 95 is just that — essential. Forging its way into rotations of die-hard Air Max heads and casual trainer fans alike — hell, even my old man still enjoys a pair of the mid-90s trainers — the intricately layered Air is still as relevant as ever, if not more so than it was when it first hit the scene back in 95.
Next to join the abundance of offerings for the classic trainer is an equally classic color combination of black and white. The team at Beaverton has opted for simplicity on the color front, but they give the trainer new life though the use of materials. The upper is anchored in a wide-open mesh, allowing for more breathability than previous renditions. Cross-hatch textured leather rides the highest overlaying wave, with the lower two opting for — what appears to be — a fine microsuede, which also engulfs the toe cap. 3M reflective detailing rides up the center of the tongue to a bit of extra sauce, and a translucent outsole encases a classic white midsole unit to complete the design.
