Collegiate colorways have often leant themselves to classic silhouettes like the adidas Forum or the Nike Blazer, given their classic athletic appeal — and it helps that they fit into the preppy aesthetic with ease. The Air Max 95, on the other hand, doesn’t really fit the mold, but Nike has never really stayed within the lines when it comes to design. This Air Max 95 “Prep School” shows just that, given its classic collegiate color mix and heritage shield designs juxtaposed against a model that’s never once been associated with the preppy look.
Here, a light green-bone mesh and leather upper hosts a slew of prep school-informed color choices, from muted green lower overlays and toecaps to rich golds and reds at the special tongue and insole shield. A varsity-style green joins University Gold along the eyelets, whilst grey and green lower overlays add some extra intrigue through textural suedes and synthetics. The pair is then completed by a simple sole unit underfoot, with its staple white and black finish pepped up by green Air supports and splashes of gold underfoot.
