Grey is great. Corduroy is great. Put ’em together, and that’s doubly great. that’s a lot of grey-sounding words, but that’s mostly what this Air Max 97 is. It’s decked out from toe-to-tail in the muted hued, working tonally across mesh uppers, and its overlays of suede, reflective 3M, and leather. Corduroy mid panels and matching tongues take on a tonal shade, too, as does the pair’s liner, laces, and rear pull. But despite its’ largely drab duds, the pair does provide some pop.

Primary colors of red, blue, green, and yellow all feature throughout, seemingly stemming from the vintage TV Colorbar tongue tag. Just how that shifts in color from panel to panel, so too does the eyelets, rear lettering, and gradient Air supports underfoot. Notably, the pair comes equipped with a forefoot mini Swoosh, and mid-panel embroidery lined in gold, while black and grey rubber outsoles and classic white midsoles complete the design.
