Nike Air Max DN “Doernbecher” by Connor Kassing-Fernandez Joins DB20 Collection
For its 20th anniversary, the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection introduces the Nike Air Max DN—a new-to-line model making its debut under the creative vision of Connor Kassing-Fernandez. A testament to his resilience and creativity, Connor’s design reflects his battle with a brain tumor and celebrates the personal passions that have fueled his journey.
The sneaker’s standout detail, “Paso a Paso” (“Step By Step”), glows on the outsole, symbolizing Connor’s enduring strength and determination. The midsole carries the phrase “Battle Scars,” complemented by spindly, vein-like patterns that weave across the upper, visually narrating the fight he has endured and overcome.
Connor’s love for music and family history is woven into the design, most notably in the haptic print upper, which transforms into sheet music. A reimagined Tn-inspired logo on the heel proudly reads “Air Connor,” cementing his signature touch. Other heartfelt details include lace locks molded into Lego bricks, a nod to one of Connor’s favorite hobbies, and the “Connor Heart,” a design inspired by how he drew hearts as a child.
The Nike Air Max DN “Doernbecher” by Connor Kassing-Fernandez, along with the rest of the DB20 collection, is set to release on January 25th, 2025, via SNKRS and select Nike retailers.
Priced at $170, all proceeds from the collection will support the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, honoring the creativity and resilience of young patients like Connor.
