2022 has been a big, big year for the Nike Air Max Penny 1, with big-name collaborations and OG re-runs celebrating what is arguably the best signature sneaker outside of the Air Jordan lineage. 27 years on, the sneaker still holds weight, and new colorways like this Nike Air Max Penny 1 “Faded Spruce” are giving more reasons to rekindle one’s love for the sneaker.
Here, only a few color pops break up a murdered-out base, with the titular “Faded Spruce” teal gree hitting the forefoot and midfoot Swooshes, as well as trimming the embroidered mark at the tongue. The other color — “Dark Pony” — trims both the mudguard overlays and leather edging of the pulls, and it also colors the brand marks found underfoot. Everything else arrives in black, with ballistic mesh and nubuck uppers hosting typical mesh tongues and a black-out sole.
