Nike Adds a Patina Finish to This Retooled Air Max Plus Hiker
Renowned for its innovative spirit and transformative designs, Nike's Air Max lineage showcases its versatility again with the introduction of the Nike Air Max Plus Hiker.
A compelling reimagining of the classic silhouette, the Sean McDowell-designed trainer is meticulously adapted to the demands and aesthetics of outdoor adventure. At its core, the sneaker retains the iconic Sunrise gradient uppers and the distinctive vein cage overlays that have become synonymous with the Air Max Plus design. However, this model diverges from tradition with its functional, trail-ready enhancements. Zip-down waterproof overlays provide essential protection against the elements, while the textile, high-rise construction, and improved accessibility gear the sneaker towards the rigors of trail trekking.
In addition to its robust design, the Air Max Plus Hiker is fortified with hardened guards and removable utilitarian heel packs, further emphasizing its suitability for outdoor exploration. Yet, the meticulous superficial finishes that imbue the sneaker with character and history truly set this model apart. Cracked painting on the midsoles, pre-worn guards and heel packs, and a rusty patina finish on the mini midfoot Swoosh overlays and the special-edition packaging all contribute to a sense of ruggedness and endurance, reflective of the trails and terrains it's designed to conquer.
