Throughout the last month, the Oregon-based conglomerate has been gradually releasing a number of sneakers predominantly clad in a "Black/Gamma Blue" color scheme. Beyond donning similar hues, each pair features scorpion imagery across its build. To the uninformed spectator, these similarities might be trivial, but savvy fans—especially those well-versed in Nike's football heritage—have been able to determine that the thematic makeovers are inspired by 2002's "Secret Tournament" campaign, which coincided with that year's World Cup™ competition.
A recent "Scorpion" Mercurial Pack is rooted in the same inspiration, as is Cristiano Ronaldo's "Gold Scorpion" pair, which commemorates the Portuguese star becoming the first player two score in six different World Cup™ tournaments.
Nike Sportswear's seasonal range indulges in an eye-catching color scheme that doubles down on the Air Max and Total 90 footwear's lifestyle focus. All pairs, however, boast Nike Football heritage proudly.

The latest arrives in a "Black/Gamma Blue" color scheme and features scorpion graphics throughout. It's accompanied by a similarly-styled Air Max Plus VII and Air Max Plus
Specifics about the inspiration behind the Air Max trio have yet to be disclosed by the Swoosh, but the pairs could be part of a wider zodiac sign collection by Nike Sportswear. The bulk of AM95 silhouette opts for a pitch-dark look, although matte and glossy finishes share real estate, keeping the shoe from being just another stealthy option. By comparison, the Air Max Plus VII-variant sees a rich blue print across its upper, drawing attention from the jump. Vibrant hits of blue also land on the older model, animating the tongue and laces, Airbags, and parts of the outsole. The Air Max Plus takes a more traditional Tuned Air approach, simply opting for shining silver overlays and midfoot shanks set against a striking black backdrop.
All three pairs feature scorpion graphics on a lateral heel tab and the underside of the heel Air Max unit (Air Max 95), and tongue badge (Air Max Plus + Air Max Plus VII).
Stay tuned for firm Nike.com launch details. The "Scorpion" Air Max 95 and Air Max Plus VII are expected to release before summer ends.
