Nike Honors Penny Hardaway’s Late Friend with Air Penny 3 “Do it for Dez”

With the Air Penny 3‘s revival, Nike has celebrated Hardaway’s legacy through a number of OG colorways. And soon, as is fitting, the brand will pay a welcome tribute to the aforementioned athlete’s close friend, Desmond Merriweather, through a mismatched “Do It For Dez” colorway. The robust overlays, collar, lace unit, and midsole, however, are grounded in a black neutral coloring, turning cohesive a kit that would otherwise appear as separate shoes.

What’s more, each foot features an animal print miniature swoosh, though the hues of its stripes are dependent entirely on its backdrop. One sees to a deep Royal Blue that blends into the tumbled leathers behind, while the opposite prefers red, using it also atop much of the visible construction in a way identical to its counterpart. Finished with the usual emblems and bright white embroidery, the Air Penny 3 “Do It For Dez” will be making its way to retailers and likely Nike.com on November 20th.
