Nike Air Presto “Soar” Celebrates Tobie Hatfield’s Original Design Sketches
Birthed from an idea dreamed up in the mid-1990s, Tobie Hatfield’s masterpiece, the Nike Air Presto, took a few years to work its way from conception to realization, hitting shelves a mere four years after its first sketches. It’s arguably one of Nike’s most comfortable wears, and still strikes a significant chord with sneakerheads two decades on from its first release. This year, for its 20th anniversary, we’ve seen the silhouette drop in colorways new and old, the latter reserved for one-time samples and PEs than never saw a retail release. Now fans of the silhouette will be treated to an homage of sorts, with a sketch-laden edition that tribute Tobie’s original workings — the Nike Air Presto “Soar”
The etchings — likey to be based on the originals from Hatfield himself — are sublimated atop the bright blue synthetic upper, penciled all over in chalk white as almost to mimic a blueprint of the design. It’s cages, tongue tags and select sole details arrive in the titular orange hue, while crisp white strikes throughout provide the pair some serious pop!
