Despite its heavy focus on futuristic designs, Nike has not forgotten the importance of its history — especially to its bottom line. Through all of its exceptional advancements, their back-catalog still serves up a significant chunk of their revenue, with retro runners making up a sizeable portion of that. Aside from the mainline Air Max releases, Nike has a penchant for reintroducing select silhouettes on an annual basis — and for 2021, it appears that the Nike Air Structure Triax 91 will be one of those select few — all the more fitting considering it will be celebrating its 30th anniversary year.
After first appearing in an all-new Air Max BW-inspired take, then a colorful cop for kids, the first OG reissue has appeared — “Persian Violet”. Here, uppers arrive in the period-staple white mesh, while its signature aggressive overlays of purple-blue and bone leather engulf the midfoot and toe. Angled geometrics continue at the bulky heel clip and midsole detail — the latter channeling the Air Jordan 6, while its black rubber outsoles are reminiscent of the Air Max 90 before it. Completing the design is a stark black Swoosh and eyelet combo on the lateral, popping Infrared on rear embroidery, the medial Air surrounds and eyestay, and the two colors converging at the tongue’s retro branding.
A confirmed Nike.com release date is still unknown, though the surfacing of its official images here below does indicate that a release won’t be too far off. In the meantime, enjoy a detailed look at the retro runner further on, and be sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter accountfor further updates on its release.
