Though the releases of Travis Scott’s Nike Air Trainers — and his remaining Nike sneakers — are on hold, the Swoosh undoubtedly had a slew of follow-up general releases to flow on. Expecting the hype to be at an all-time high, Nike’s blueprint of a general release barrage post-collab is an effective method. But with holds put on Scott’s drops, how will something like this new, heavily-modified Nike Air Trainer 1 SP “Coriander” fair? Its utilitarian flair is something that aligns with the Travis Scott brand to a T, but without the preceding collaboration, will it hit as hard?
With a bevy of new additions, OG heads will be left wither confused or intrigued. From plastic clips replacing the velcro straps to a bevy of hardware additions, excessive pulls, and too much reflective 3M detailing to count, everywhere you look the silhouette has changed. Even the material makeup has migrated from leathers to ripstop and synthetic. Color-wise the pair is fitted with a fitting scheme for the new technical aesthetic, with outdoor-friendly tans and oranges linking with greys and yellows throughout. There are a few pops of light blue, too, but that’s mostly reserved for the branding hits and added spotted details.
