After going AWOL for a good portion of 2020, it appears that Nikehas plans to reintroduce the bare-Air VaporMax Plus as a mainstay staple for the year ahead. After being included in the recent “Peace Pack” and surfacing yesterday as part of Nike’s contrast-stitched collection— along with a few recent releases leaked — one would suggest that the sole-less sneaker is here to stay. Now it has surfaced in an Orlando Magic-like makeup; a timely release considering the franchise’s apparent return to some long-overdue winning form.
Here, jet black neoprene uppers are met with tonal, high-gloss lace caging and toe caps, and are wrapped at the heel in fine black nubuck. Both the pair’s midsole piece and VaporMax sole unit feature a white/translucent-to-royal gradient finish from toe-to-tail and is met in the middle by a flash of black by-way-of the midfoot shank. Further pops of royal blue hue hit the tongue tag and rear pull, and the pair is finished off with a sprinkling of silver at the 3M reflective detail, insole branding, and chrome Swoosh at the ankle.
