Nike may no longer focus solely on running, but it continues to delve into its archive to showcase just how innovative it's catalog has been over the past handful of decades. At the tail-end of 2024, the Swoosh retrod the Air Zoom Spiridon from 1997, delivering a blast from the past to longtime and new fans alike.
The silhouette – which was designed by Christian Tresser of Air Max 97 fame – has returned in a number of styles since the reissue of its debut 'Metallic Silver/Sport Red/Black' look. Hiroshi Fujiwara even lent his creative vision to the sneaker via a fragment design collaboration. Sole Retriever recently reported that Tresser's old school running model will also return in an OG 'Light Concord' outfit.
Part of the Swoosh's Fall 1997 catalog, the Zoom Air Spiridon 'White/Metallic Silver/Light Concord' has long been kept in the vault. A mid-top Nike Zoom Don from 2010 released in a similar color palette, but deviated from Tresser's original vision. This year's retro, however, promises a return-to-form, with the titular 'Light Concord' hue animating mudguards, lace loops, and other details across the shoe.
Firm Nike SNKRS release details are still under wraps, but that's expected to change by April. In the meantime, enjoy a look at a 'Light Concord' pair below – courtesy of GOAT. (This story's lead photo is of the original pair, too, courtesy of @WORMTokyo on Instagram.) The Air Zoom Spiridon OG is priced at $160.
