The Nike Blazer is heralded as one of the original creations from the guys in Beaverton, establishing itself way back in 1973. It’s sure come a long way since them, from its origins as a basketball shoe, then adapted for a skate shoe and, finally, settled in as streetwear staple. Largely thanks to its collaborations with Virgil Abloh, it has seen a market explosion over the past 18-or-so months. This latest release continues the blitz of Blazers, straying a far way from the white leather/colored Swoosh options that we’ve seen flood the market back in 2019.
As bold as it is beautiful, this addition to the Blazer’s classically-inspired catalog features an all-black suede upper paired with a “Pure Platinum” Swoosh that’s bound to benefit any wardrobe — streetwear or otherwise. The everyman-approach continues underfoot, with a vintage-style sail cupsole unit housing the sneaker, and the pair is completed with further throwback hits, including exposed foam tongues, old-school branding hits, and classic flat white laces.
A world away from the on-court white leather kicks of the 70s — but still managing to encapsulate the era perfectly. Love ’em? Pairs are available now from the Nike retailers listed below. Go get ’em.
