Perhaps a theme meant to coincide with the (now postponed) Tokyo Olympics this year, Japanese Sashiko finishes have rum rampant through Nike, Inc’s offerings in the past 6 months. Spearheaded by the Air Jordan 4, complimentary releases came in thick from Nike SB, while a recent revelation of an Air Force 1 Low rivaled them all. But the Uptowns title for best-in-theme may be quickly changing hands, with this two-piece Nike Blazer Mid “Sashiko” pack prevailing as a late favorite.

Set atop navy and barely-rose uppers, the design dabbles in a cross-hatch weave as often seen in the traditional process. That finish is subtly transferred to the white woven tongues, while embroidered-on Swooshes and endless knot-inspired over laces add to the overarching theme. From there, things remaining quite uniform, with tonal suede overlays at the eyelets, toe, and forefoot, while classic white and white/gum sole units arrive underfoot respectively. Completing the design is special Japanese characters at the rear panel and insoles, and classic Nike branding hits at the tongue.

Though a release date for the pairs has not yet been set, both are expected to arrive early this year. Retailers across Asia have listed both of the Nike Blazer Mid 77 “Sashiko” options for a February 27th release. The Air Force 1 “Sashiko” is also expected to arrive the same day. Though other regions are yet to announce their release plans, you can expect pairs to roll out around the globe on or around that time. Stay tuned for more.
