Originally surfacing on the SB Dunk back in 2005, the theme is a reference to a fictional 1970s ABA franchise imagined by a 2002 Nike ad campaign, the Roswell Rayguns, is one of the brand’s most memorable mock-ups alongside Charlie Murphy’s Leroy Smith, and Michael Jordan’s Johnny Kilroy. It has since gone on to serve many custom creps, but also official releases from Nike. More recently, 2018 saw a very limited “Raygun” Kyrie 3 in reference to the All-Stars interest in skating, and back in December 2019, Nike released two tie-dyed sequels to the original “Raygun” SB Dunks that served as a tribute to the late Nike SB Godfather Sandy Bodecker. Now, barely a year on from that pack comes another, with this Nike Blazer Mid “Raygun” (GS Pictured) joining the previously-previewed Air Force 1 Low, Air Raid, and Kyrie 7 for release this Fall.
Much like the pack’s other inclusions, the Air Raid brings its own flavor to the theme, this time keeping things classic in its white leather construction, all the while adding significant flair through embellishments like contrast stitching, and matte sequin Swooshes. The latter only appears on the lateral side, with gold and green finishes on alternating sides of the sequin, all of which comes piped in thick gold embroidery. Similar golden-orange hues hit the entirety of the tongue, whole panels in the rear opt for a deep orange. Completing the design is a set of green leather medial Swooshes, the pack’s signature alien/hoops embroidered motif on the lateral heel, and RAYGUNS-branded insoles.
Though a release date for the pair is yet to be confirmed, the appearance of the official images does indicate a proximal release. Until further news arrives, grab a full look at the gallery here below, and be sure to keep your eyes glued to our official Twitter account for further updates.
