As the beautiful game continues to inspire culture and style, brands like Nike keep looking into their archives to repackage nostalgia for today's audience. Building off the success of last year's capsule, the Swoosh has prepped another Killshot 2 and Cortez built with elements referencing the iconic Tiempo boot.
Famously worn by the likes of Ronaldinho, the Nike Football model has long-served as the brand's most traditional range of footwear. Unlike the Mercurial and Hypervenom lines (the latter returning in its original "Black/Citrus" style before summer ends), the Nike Tiempo roster historically indulged in high-quality leather and a reliable stud pattern, not focusing too much on the latest Zoom Air bags or shaving weight. The last handful of iterations have been firmly positioned as modern boots, but the old school edition continues to harken back to an important time for the company.
Both the Killshot 2 and Cortez borrow the boot's fold-over tongue. The former design keeps things relatively straightforward, opting for contrast stitching throughout its "Metallic Cool Grey" upper. By comparison, the vintage Nike Running silhouette reverts to the quilted construction seen last year, only this time, favoring a "Black" leather build. Gum bottoms land on the two styles, further presenting a classic aesthetic sure to be appreciated by diehard football fans and casuals alike.
Enjoy official photos of the latest Tiempo-inspired Sportswear duo below. Pairs should arrive via Nike.com by the end of the summer, with both silhouettes being priced at $90.
