Significantly overshadowed by the 40th anniversary of the Air Force 1, the Nike Cortez has seen a low-key celebration of the half-century mark. With the silhouette hardly sighted outside of special collaborations from the likes of sacai and Union LA, it’s taken almost the entire length of the calendar year to see some general release action; The recently-revealed “Georgetown”and “Running Rabbit”releases will now be joined by a new effort, this top-shelf Nike Cortez “Orewood” — a ladies-exclusive.

Unveiled today by way of official Nike.com imagery, the shots show a pair delivered in decadent duds. A premium undyed suede upper and lightly tumbled tonal leathers for the bulk of the build, with buttery “Earth” brown Swoosh and heel overlays delivering that signature contrast look. The latter is finished with debossed “NIKE” and “’72” brand marks that, when working with the retro exposed-foam nylon tongue and crimp laces, add a big retrospective aura. All of this rest atop a creamy jelly rubber outsole, complete with a strike of Bright Crimson at the heel.
