There are many things that bring communities together, but there’s nothing quite like the power and atmosphere of a local barbershop to bolster the strength of its local people. Attempting to assimilate that aura, the Swoosh is readying a special-edition release — the Nike Dunk Low “Barbershop” — for the new year.

Anchored in heavily-tumbled black leather suede, the pair presents a handful of special callouts to the heart of the community, namely the candy stripe quarter trim, and accompanying blue, white, and red accents fluttered through the pair from the Swoosh to the sole, to the tongue and the aglet. There is also a special graphic etched into the rear that is almost Māori in appearance, which is said to be inspired by in-cut hair detailing.

First looks at a second grey-based option of the Nike Dunk Low “Barbershop” has emerged. First looks provided by sneakerknockerzllcshow a pair with identical designs, yet differing in hues and materials. Here, the tumbled black leather upper is forgone in favor of a light grey suede. whilst it’s light blue trim at the collar and Swoosh are traded in for white. Sole units underfoot remain unchanged, and the pair is capped off with gold clipper dubraes at the vamp.
