Nike Revisits Dunk Roots with New Twist on “Kentucky” for 40th Anniversary

2025 marks the 40th anniversary of the Nike Dunk, and while much of the focus has been on fresh colorways, a few releases will pay homage to the silhouette’s foundational years. One of the more nostalgic efforts to emerge is a new take on the famed “Kentucky” colorway — a design that echoes the 1985 “Be True To Your School” series, but with subtle adjustments that set it apart from the 2020 retro release.

Classic white leather uppers and rich royal blue overlays make up the bulk of the build, staying true to the original formula. But the difference lies in the detailing. Instead of white liners and tongues like the 2020 release, this 40th anniversary version features matching royal blue finishes on the tongue, sock liner, and tongue tag. You will also note a significant difference in construction, with this pair labelled "Retro."

The “Kentucky” Dunk Low is available now via Shoe Palace as well as Dicks Sporting Goods and will soon be via Nike.com and other retailers.
