Chinese New Year has always been a marquee event on the calendar for Nike Basketball — after all, the Asian market is responsible for a considerable amount of performance hoops sales. to celebrate the region’s fondness for their footwear, Nike will once again be issuing select silhouettes to celebrate the impending Year of the Ox — the first of which has appeared by-way of this Nike Kybrid S2 “Chinese New Year”
Once again, the 4/5/6 hybrid silhouette works in both its design language and past colorways, the latter of which focuses down on the past three Kyrie CNY releases from 2018 thru 2020. Starting with the earliest, the Kyrie 4 CNY’s floral embroidery is worked in at the tongue and at the lateral side of the right shoe (not pictured), before moving on to the patchwork prints seen on the Kyrie 5 back in 2019. Here it can be seen at the left shoe’s lateral ankle, and the right’s forefoot and medial side. Finally, the muddled graphic from the 2020 Kyrie 6 CNY is brought in at the forefoot Flytrap staps and left forefoot to complete the design.
