Nike Basketball continues to commemorate LeBron James' professional career with the LeBron 23. The first pair the Ohio-native laced up for an NBA game in 2026 recalls Jan. 15, 2008.
Officially dubbed "Honor the King," the teal-colored sneaker remembers the night LBJ dropped 51 points against the Memphis Grizzlies. The pair remembers Martin Luther King, Jr. and draws inspiration from the historic Lorraine Motel, the site of the important Civil Rights activist's assassination. The location is now home to the National Civil Rights Museum, an organization that preserves history while continuing to advocate justice.
James laced up the "Honor the King" LeBron 23 against the Grizzlies, a fitting debut for a pair referencing a historic landmark in Memphis. The pair features Equality messaging on the heels, matching a graphic t-shirt designed to accompany the special Nikes.
Stay tuned for firm Nike.com release details. Official product photos of the shoe in Big Kids' sizing is available ahead. The "Honor the King" pair could launch before January ends.
