Whether or not you believe it's time for him to retire, LeBron James has had a fruitful 23 seasons in the NBA. Before the 2025-26 campaign began, he and his Swoosh family revealed that their Nike LeBron 23 would commemorate at least 23 milestone moments in the Ohio-native's life. The last five months have witnessed just this, with the latest pair to surface recalling a specific shot from May 2018.
In Game 3 of that year's Eastern Conference semifinals, "King James" hit a buzzer-beater over OG Anunoby to secure a victory over the Toronto Raptors. The late-game shot came after the visiting team had scored 17 points straight in a comeback effort. James, at the head of the Cleveland Cavaliers, took matters into his own hands to crush Anunoby and company's hopes of getting at least one win in the 2018 semifinals.
James had earned a reputation of crushing the Raptors NBA Finals aspirations—so much so that the world started referring to him as "LeBronto" whenever he had to face the Canadian franchise.
Nike Basketball is commemorating the nickname, James' record against the Raptors, and that May 5, 2018 buzzer-beater through its LeBron 23 "LeBronto" footwear and apparel capsule.
The shoe features an elegant "Silt Red/Black/Metallic Copper" color scheme that animates the crown-shaped lower-half in a shimmering finish. The pair's most-definitive detail, however, is the dinosaur fossil-inspired emblem on the spine—a nod to James burying the Raptors time and time again.
Additionally, an accompanying graphic t-shirt sees the Swoosh play with this idea by depicting a crown-shaped meteor heading towards basketball-playing dinosaurs suited up in Raptors colors.
Stay tuned for firm Nike.com release details of the "LeBronto" capsule, which should launch around Tuesday, March 10.
