In mid-February 2018, LeBron James was at the center of national discourse after Fox News commentator Laura Ingraham told him to "shut up and dribble" instead of opining on politics.
Eight years later, the incident has inspired the latest Nike LeBron 23 basketball shoe.
Part of an ongoing effort between the NBA veteran and Nike Basketball team to tell career-defining stories from the former's decades-spanning time in the spotlight, the "Shut Up & Dribble" sneaker serves as a reminder that athletes are more than their physical abilities. "King James" has been vocal about social injustice since Ingraham made her comments, utilizing his platform for good. Efforts outside of the hardwood have benefitted countless folks across the U.S., showcasing a long-standing commitment to making a difference.
James' "Shut Up & Dribble" project includes footwear and apparel with Still Talking and More Than An Athlete messaging. Items are expected to launch via Nike.com before March arrives.
