John McEnroe’s signature Nike sneaker from 1984 is poised to return in 2023, making the first-ever re-release of the Nike Mac Attack.
Expected to return in several colorways, including a collaboration with Social Status, it will likely be the OG grey/black scheme that will get things going for the silhouette this summer.
Releasing in the mid-80s alongside an aggressive advertising campaign, Johnny Mac’s signature Nike Mac Attack sneaker has as much attitude as the man himself. Bringing a basketball-like aesthetic to the tennis court, McEnroe’s signature Nike sneaker became a favorite in the category, and even leant itself to both gym and casual categories; It was essentially an early-model cross-trainer.
New looks at the OG retro show the remake of the original with black mesh toes, grey mesh mid panels, and a slew of alternating overlays; The forefoot opts for grey, while Swoosh and collar prefer black. A classic white and grey sole unit sits underfoot, while the signature checkerboard tongue tag returns up top in its OG royal, black, and red render.
