Nike Football's Vapor Mercurial 16 "Déjà Vu" Recalls 2018's "Fast AF" Release

Over the years, Nike Football has been delivering compelling product to athletes of all levels. Although the team is constantly pursuing innovative design, it's also carved out space for offerings that reference its past and/or other segments of the Nike, Inc. juggernaut. For its latest Mercurial Vapor 16 Elite boots, the football-obsessed squad has turned back the clock to 2018.

Officially clad in a "Total Orange/Metallic Vivid Gold" color scheme, the newly-surfaced pair bears resemblance to the "Fast AF" Mercurial 12 release from seven years ago. Although both silhouettes are built with different materials, the newer option sees a bold citrus finish and large M branding around the heel in a direct nod to the past. The Mercurial 360 went down as one of the line's more popular modern offerings and it seems the newer Nike Vapor Mercurial design wants to enjoy some of that magic.

In the lead up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup™ tournament, the Swoosh has explored different ways of promoting "the beautiful game" and its connection to it. Nike Cryoshot is one big bet for the company, blending legendary on-pitch performance-wear with street fashion. Other projects rooted in football (soccer) are expected to emerge prior to the event's kick off in mid-June 2026.
