First Looks at Nike’s New React Ianga

Forming part of Nike’s new THE10TH label.

Revealed yesterday as part of Nike’s newest conceptual endeavor, the THE10TH was arguably the most audacious of the lot. Inspired by Nike co-founder Bill Bowerman’s time served in the 10th Mountain Division of the United States Army, which specializes in conquering mountainous and arctic conditions, the series naturally tackles functional features of footwear for a variety of conditions. And today, joining yesterday’s low-cut layered and woven silhouette, comes this new addition to the THE10TH series, dubbed the React Ianga (yeah — I don’t know how to pronounce it, either.)

The uppers on this all-new addition reflect the design ethos of the previously revealed pair, including matching React sole units and heel overlay designs. The high-top sneaker sports a durable black canvas upper, complete with black tumbled leather toe boxes and matching eyelet overlays, as well as midfoot tan leather detail. The latter links in the heel suede overlays, utility-style heel pulls and gum sole plugs, while its React-loaded sole unit and waxed laces give the boot-like shoe some serious streetwear appeal
