Nike’s “ultimate race day shoe” has enjoyed a fruitful relaunch off the back of it’s Stussy launch pack, with follow on GRs providing colorways suitable to everyone’s tastes. As expected, OG colorways were in the highest demand, with the first wave of original releases reissued back in Aprilto a very warm reception. Now its time for another — 2003’s “Royal” Nike Zoom Spiridon Cage 2.
Arguably the silhouette’s most historically recognizable colorway as it was used heavily in the sneaker’s original promotional material, the mix of silver and royal mesh, and chrome overlays is a daring one. Breathable mesh uppers are highlighted at the toe and quarter by vivid blue-translucent overlays, balanced at the midfoot by a bold 3D Swoosh. Structured overlays in chrome add to the pair’s flamboyance, while a sole white midsole, tri-colored outsole, and translucent heel cage complete the design.
A release date for this OG “Royal” Spiridon Caged 2 is still unknown, but it is scheduled to drop in Japan on June 4th — so expect a Stateside release to follow shortly after.
