Nike Previews Square-Toe Air Force 1 Lows and Experimental Samples

Nike’s latest product preview out of Paris has delivered one of the more unexpected looks at where the brand could be heading next, with a range of unreleased and upcoming samples surfacing across several familiar Nike Sportswear lines.

The biggest talking point is easily the square-toe Nike Air Force 1 Low. Shown in multiple executions, the reworked AF1 keeps the model’s familiar low-cut profile, paneling, and sole unit, but pushes the toe box into a much sharper, squared-off shape. It is a strange adjustment at first glance, but it also feels in line with Nike’s recent run of early-2000s callbacks, experimental leather treatments, and fashion-led updates to Bruce Kilgore’s 1982 icon.

Several versions were previewed, including tonal suede pairs, plaid builds, and a heavily distressed red-and-blue finish with oversized rope laces. The shape appears to be the key detail across the series, giving the Air Force 1 a more formal, almost dress-shoe-like edge while still leaning on the familiar Uptown foundation.

Nike also showcased a handful of other experimental models, including a low-cut Foamposite-style build with a molded upper, visible Air tooling, and a gradient blue-to-purple finish. The pair appears to carry the same futuristic energy that made Foamposite one of Nike Basketball’s most important late-1990s designs, but with a sleeker low-top profile suited for lifestyle wear.

Elsewhere, preview images revealed new Air Max 95, Air Max Plus, and slip-on-style concepts, ranging from croc-embossed leather builds to checkerboard woven patterns and bright monochrome executions. Frank Cooke also unveiled a Nike ACG Foamdome Low, adding another unexpected outdoor-inspired silhouette into the mix.

At this stage, Nike has not confirmed full release details for the collection, though several of the styles shown are expected to release in the coming months. Given how broad the preview was, it appears Nike is continuing to test the limits of its archive, blending familiar icons with exaggerated shapes, unusual materials, and more fashion-forward construction.
