Nike S.T. Flare Debuts for China’s Outdoor Courts

As outdoor basketball continues to thrive across China, Nike is stepping up with a purpose-built solution: the all-new Nike S.T. Flare. Designed from the ground up for outdoor performance, the S.T. Flare is Nike’s first basketball silhouette tailored specifically for Chinese athletes and the wide-ranging court conditions they face — from cement and blacktop to synthetic rubber.

Central to the design is a durable XDR outsole featuring a full-length macro herringbone pattern, engineered to deliver multidirectional traction and control for fast-paced play. Cushioning is handled by a soft yet responsive Cushlon 3.0 foam midsole, reinforced with a forefoot Air Zoom unit for enhanced energy return and impact protection. A TPU shank plate bolsters midfoot stability for lateral movement and quick defensive shifts.

The upper is constructed from lightweight engineered mesh with strategic reinforcements in high-wear zones. Flywire cables integrate with the lacing system for adaptive lockdown, while a molded lateral guardrail adds protection and containment, reducing the risk of ankle rollover. Together, these features empower athletes to move confidently through every transition, cut, and drive.

“We closely studied the unique environments of basketball courts across China,” says Ross Klein, Nike Senior Director of Men’s Basketball Footwear Design. “The S.T. Flare is built to meet the real-world needs of hoopers playing outside — where every cut, stop, and step matters.”

Set to release in China on June 1 via nike.com, the Nike Tmall flagship store, and select retailers, the S.T. Flare is more than just a shoe — it’s part of Nike’s long-term commitment to serving and growing the basketball community in China. Additional colorways are expected to follow throughout the season.
