Nike Celebrate Spelman College with a Special-Edition Terminator High

Spelman College remains a pivotal epicenter of culture, history, and education with a legacy stretching back over a century as the oldest attested Black institution for women in the United States. As part of its ongoing mission to celebrate Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Nike has crafted a distinct iteration of the Nike Terminator High, dedicated to the Spelman Lady Jaguars.

This commemorative silhouette exudes a graceful blend of history and aesthetics. It features a polished leather base layer juxtaposed with rugged suede overlays enveloped in a subdued grey shade. This choice of a neutral canvas allows Spelman College’s emblematic light blue hue to accentuate various design elements, striking a harmonious balance between tradition and modernity.

The azure touch ebbs and flows across the profile swooshes, the forefoot’s “1881” mark, the laces, and the edges of the tongue. A portion of the Spelman Hymn, “Thy Name We Praise,” is elegantly presented on the heel, further anchoring the design in the institution’s revered history. Intricacies abound as royal blue jaguar paw prints meander across the icy blue tread and insoles, adding narrative depth to the design.

The sentiment “Undaunted By The Fight” is thoughtfully woven into the laces, evoking the indomitable spirit that Spelman College instills in its scholars. The cream-white midsole threaded with royal blue epitomizes the harmonious color dialogues throughout the sneaker.
