The Nike Total Air Foamposite Max might finally be on its way back. The late-’90s battle-ready silhouette — remembered for its rugged build, full-length Air cushioning, and metallic molded upper — has resurfaced in a major way thanks to a teaser from legendary Nike designer Frank Cooker.

Cooker posted an Instagram Story showing a fresh pair of the OG Metallic Silver colorway, paired with a caption from @giuseppejoe32 calling the shoe “long overdue.” Cooker’s repost, stamped with “Heard you,” was all the confirmation longtime Foamposite fans needed. While Nike hasn’t issued an official announcement, the timing lines up: 2027 would mark a fitting return window as interest in late-’90s basketball footwear continues its resurgence.

Originally released in 1998 and most famously worn by Tim Duncan, the Total Air Foamposite Max became known for its armored Foamposite shell, aggressive traction, and distinct iridescent oval logo embedded near the heel. A retro last appeared more than a decade ago, and secondary prices have climbed steadily as the model has remained off the market.

If Cooker’s hint comes to fruition, the 2027 comeback would likely include the Metallic Silver OG — the pair shown in his post — though additional colorways are possible. For now, the only official detail is the teaser itself, but it’s the strongest sign we’ve had in years that Nike is getting ready to run them back.

We’ll update you as more information develops on the potential 2026 return of the Nike Total Air Foamposite Max.

For more on the Swoosh, the original Nike Air Bakin is expected to return in 2026.
