Official Looks at Nike’s Third VaporMax Instalment

Third time’s a charm.

We didn’t know it at the time, but when the VaporMax tech dropped on Air Max Day in 2017, Air as we knew it would never be the same again. Fast-forward three years, and the tech is still as relevant as ever, making it’s way to all sorts of silhouettes, from the Air Max Plus to the Air Max 97. But the tech belongs first and foremost to the self-titled sneaker, which has continued to be one of the most popular new sneakers in Nike’s ever-growing arsenal.

As we enter 2019, we prepare ourselves for the third Flyknit-equipped rendition of the sneaker, and it’s debuting in classic “Triple Black”. Nike hasn’t gone too wild with this year’s design, keeping it feeling familiar while making just a few tweaks: the heel clip has merged into one solid piece, the sock collar comes in a higher-cut, the Swoosh migrates back to the midfoot from the rear and the tongue adorns an all-new tab. The obvious change is the sneaker’s weave pattern, which opts for an interesting ribbed texture.
