Heavily inspired by Nike’s wild retro DT Max 96, the Nike Gliese is nothing short of absurd. Its aggressive overlays paired with patterns on the underlay is anything but subtle, while its bare Air Unit adds to the silhouette’s antics. The debut Gliese arrived in a not-so-subtle Gold, with the following pairs opting for something a little tamer. But now, it looks like Nike will be going back to its big, bad and bold agenda with this eye-popping “Olympic”-styled colorway.
Starting with a navy mesh base, this next-up offering shows scattered pops of contrasting white on the jagged mesh underlays. Swooshes and other branding hits arrive in metallic gold, while bold red encases the upper through the use of leather overlays. Navy pops up again on the collar, heel pull, and sole unit, while red taction pads underfoot cap off this powerful patriotic design.
