If recent times have taught us anything it is that we need to look after the planet and ourselves, the Nike Waffle Racer Crater Foam looks to offer a helping hand to accomplish just that. Featuring a sole totally comprised of recycled factory floor scraps – as previously seen on the Space hippie collection, Nike looks to lower their carbon footprint and contribution to the world’s waste issue with a unique piece of footwear.
Sole aside, the shoe is constructed of a myriad of varying materials on the upper – unclear if recycled components were used -, the predominately leather upper serves as a foundation for the nubuck overlays on the toe box and heel that are accompanied by canvas paneling seen on the lace stays and medial that results in a unique textured delight. The two-tone multicolored speckled paper mâché-esq sole unit sits at the pairs bedrock and offers a large Waffle tread for plenty of traction, the design is finished by a red swoosh attached with large exposed stitching and branding on the heel which contrasts well with the remainder of the shoe.
