New York Parks is Getting Their Own Air Force 1
Two New York City icons collide for a very unlikely partnership; introducing the NYC Parks x Nike Air Force 1 Low.
The city’s parks and recreation department has been known to dive into all kinds of projects, from artistic installments to revamping an old railway line into an elevated garden above the concrete jungle. Their next installment comes in the form of an Air Force 1 Low, a sneaker that’s equally iconic in the city as the NYC Parks green signage. The black-based pair arrives in a combo of ballistic mesh and leather, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Nike’s sustainable Flyleather, considering the green thumbs of the collaborative partner. Mid panels arrive in the former, while tumbled leather hits the Swooshes, eyestays and toe box, with a textured finish arriving on the toe caps and heel panels. Black woodgrain textured heel overlays lock in a co-branded heel ribbion, and ripstop tongues hold the iconic leaf motif aloft in vibrant neon green. Underfoot you’ll find black sole units splashed with pops of vivid hues — green, orange and blue — with the iconic signage-green color appearing painted on the midsole’s AIR brand detailing and mapped-out NYC insoles completing the design.
