2020 was certainly a year for change. For Nike, they decided to make a change toward the good with their “Move To Zero” initiative, in which they plan to transition manufacturing practices towards a zero impact to the world’s fragile eco-system. Now that 2021 is now here, the genius’ at the swoosh headquarters has a new collaboration to really put this forward-focused conceptualization into full-flight. READYMADE, founded by Yuta Hosokawa, is synonymous with reworking secondhand garments and materials and turning them into pieces of art, their latest canvas results in the READYMADE x Nike Blazer Mid.

From the outset, this newest Blazer Mid colorway displays a DIY aesthetic while still capturing modern-day hype appeal, the core of the upper is comprised of a grey-on-white camouflaged textile that plays host to a plethora of unique overlays. White rubber panels cover the toe cap and heel, a large black rough-cut material is positioned on the medial, and a bizarre distorted “Total Orange” swoosh rests atop of it all. Underfoot and adding its own unique flair to the design sits a bubbled white midsole unit that frames a multicolored “Crater” outer sole, which further cements its eco-friendly ethos. Completing this colorway and contributing to the rich tapestry of the palette is the rough cut tongue, intersecting “Volt” laces, and the READYMADE x trio swoosh branding located on the heel.

Update 01.19.21 Originally expected to release on February 1st, the READYMADE x Nike Blazer Mid has reportedly been pushed back until the 27th, as per sources in Asia. The pair is expected to hit select Swoosh retailers and Nike.com for $160. We’ll keep you updated with store lists and a raffle guide for the drop over the coming weeks.

Update 01.22.21 A second, white-based option of the READYMADE x Nike Blazer Mid has appeared and is reportedly releasing alongside the black option on February 27. We’re still waiting on official confirmation on the release from Nikes, so be sure to follow us here on Twitter for all the updates.

Update 03.03.21 After the Ls for the READYMADE x Nike Blazer Mids were dished out late last month, a third, online-exclusive colorway has appeared. The Japanese label is offering up a handful of their friends-and-family editions in highly limited quantity. This grey variation of sees familiar recycled materials in greyscale, whit vibrant pops of orange, green, and royal blue on the laces and Swooshes respectively.

It’s expected to be released exclusively as part of Yuta Hosokawa’s exhibit at the Kaikai Kiki Gallery (which will be held later in May). According to Zingaro, this small-batch offering in limited sizing is accessible exclusively through an online raffle here.
