Stepping off the heels of this year’s Fashion Week, Nike and sacaiare continuing their collaborative partnership by doubling down (in every sense of the word) with a duo of sacai x Nike VaporWaffles.
The double-stacked sneaker appears to take inspiration from an array of Nike sneakers, notably the Vapor-style sole from the modern pegasus lineage, and uppers that mimic the original Pegasus from 1983. It’s debut retail release also looks at Nike icons past, with its white, red, and royal palette forming a striking resemblance to the original Nike Cortez. The previously-previewed Black/White and Gren/Yellow pairs will follow shortly after in Fall.
Execution-wise execution, the mesh uppers play host to the aged-suede and leather overlays, along with dual Swooshes and double tongues in true sacai stylings. The unique sole unit once again fuses in a classic rear wedge akin to classic trainers of 70s and 80s, while a rugged waffle outsole underfoot adds in another nice touch of Nike trainer history.
