Supreme has always found a way to work with Nike’s most obscure silhouettes through its collaborative framework. That being said, the legendary New York label has had it’s a fair share of iconic silhouettes too, including the Blazer, Dunk, and Air Force 1. The striking sliced upper and bold color scheme was polarizing from the start — it was also equal parts controversial, as the original design’s stylized “AIR” motif on the heel drew criticism from the Muslim community. It was claimed that the stylized motif was too similar to ‘Allah’ in Arabic text; Nike promptly recalled the shoes and re-released the sneaker with a standardized Nike Air logo.
Last released in 2014, the silhouette has been at the top of the list for many for a desired re-run, and now it looks like Surpeme will kick things off with three colorways for their Spring/Summer collection, according to dropsbyjay
Update 02.24.23 Two of the three colorways have now been revealed, one in all-white basketball-textured leathers and striking yellow laces, the other anchored in black nubuck and topped with gradient effects from toe to tail.Update 02.27.23 Surpeme has officially unveiled their new Nike Air Bakin’ collaboration ahead of its global release on March 2nd.
