Though Supreme is known for breathing new life into product lines, its recent dealings with Nike have been hit-or-miss. On one side of the coin, their More Uptempo collaboration from 2017 skyrocketed the silhouetted back into favor. On the other end of the spectrum, their recent Shox Ride 2 collection fell flat. It’s often the more obscure models that tend to be challenging, but many are hoping that their newest effort with Nike — the Supreme x Nike Air Max TL — won’t see such an outcome.
1998’s Air Max TL (also known as the ’99 model, given its prominence the year after release) is one that we’re yet to see relive a retro release, but with confirmation of at least one Supreme collaboration of the model on the way, one would suggest that Nike has follow-up plans for the old-school silhouette.
Likely to be one of three or four collaborative colorways, Supreme’s “White” option of the Air Max TL keeps things true to the original, save the addition of organic branding in the back, added hang tags, and — most obviously — a swap out of the sole unit to that of the Air Max 97.
