There’s a Second Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 97/1 Rumored for Fall 2019

    Round Two.

There was no bigger story to the start of 2018 than Sean Wotherspoon’s Air Max 97/1 hybrid. Firstly, the collaboration was in the hands of a sneaker reseller. That alone sparked enough interest. But it was Sean’s ability to find unique inspiration and execute his idea so flawlessly that sealed the deal for many.

The original sneaker was inspired by a corduroy Nike hat from the 1980s. This should not be surprising, considering his business, Round Two, deals in so rare, wacky and wild vintage gear that pretty much everyone has forgotten. His efforts on the hybrid won him 2017’s Vote Forward competition for Air Max Day, and it released last year in significant numbers after a very, very limited release in 2017.

There were many haters, of course, but when LeBron James, Kevin Hart, Chris Brown and pretty much every clout pulling celebrity wants a pair, you know you’re onto a winner. And from a business perspective, it helped push along the resurgence of the Air Max 97, helping Nike to reclaim huge market share in the trainer category.

So we’re not surprised to learn that — according to onusinfo — that there’s a follow-up pair releasing later this year, rumored to release sometime throughout August-October. Again, these are just rumors, so no official word is set, with no style codes or colorways surfaced.

This is one you’ll want to keep your eyes on, so stay tuned for any further developments, should they arise.
