The Tom Sachs x Nike General Purpose Shoe Surfaces in White, Green and Gold

Amid a swirl of recent allegations surrounding Tom Sachs' work environment, Nike has stated that they are "not currently working with Tom," casting a shadow of uncertainty over the upcoming release of their collaborative General Purpose Shoe for 2023. However, despite the controversy and Nike's statement, official product imagery for the new design has been released this week, suggesting that the shoe may still see the light of day.

Designed to be an "ordinary shoe for ordinary people," the Tom Sachs x Nike General Purpose Shoe offers a multi-functional approach to footwear. Far from ordinary, the shoe melds a clean white mesh base with neutral suede overlays strategically placed across the guards, eyestays, and heels for understated appeal. Black elements find their way onto the laces, heel overlays, and traction, while golden-yellow Swooshes and rich green pulls add a pop of color to round off the design.

Whether the allegations will impact the release is yet to be seen. The imagery already in circulation suggests that the gears are still in motion for an upcoming launch.
