Since taking over the sneakerwold in 2018, the Nike React Element 87 pulled a figurative Prince and went into reclusive hiding.

But while Nike’s less is more approach may have worked to build up hype in Año Uno, it’s absence thus far in 2019 may be resulting in the opposite effect — especially off the back of a continuous supply of its take-down model, the React Element 55 — with fans seemingly less interested in the once-beloved silhouette.

But that’s good news for anyone who doesn’t care for the hype, meaning pairs like this upcoming “El Dorado” should be easier to get your hands on than some of the earlier colorways.

Utilizing earthy tones — a seemingly common theme for the latest round of 87 releases— this “El Dorado” pair whips in mossy green hues at the heel, with sky blue underlays peering out from the deep burgundy lacing overlays. The latter pops up again on the heel clip and heel pull, while contrasting black adorns the heel sash detail and Swoosh branding. The staple translucent upper arrives in milky-white, as does the sole unit which comes plugged with golden “El Dorado” hits. Finishing off the colorway is light blue-on-royal laces, orange exposed stitching on the overlays and Royal-Swooshed corked insole.
