You don’t mess with a Texan.
Officially unveiled earlier this week by the new Nets point guard himself, was the Nike Kyrie “SpongeBob SquarePants” Collection, a special five-piece pack of character-themed kicks that celebrate the cult television show’s 20th anniversary. In 1999, the world fell in love with an incurably optimistic sponge. 20 years, over 200 episodes and countless memes later, SpongeBob SquarePants continues to inspire joy, connecting with generations of super-fans, like Kyrie Irving. In collaboration with Nickelodeon, the Kyrie x SpongeBob SquarePants collection celebrates Kyrie’s love for one of television’s most memorable shows and cultural phenomenon bringing Bikini Bottom to the basketball court…and beyond!
The SpongeBob x Nike Kyrie Collection features five unique colorways; including Bob himself, his grumpy next-door neighbor Squidward, best friend Patrick Star, his money-hungry boss and Krusty Krab owner Mr. Krabs and the ultra-aggressive land mammal Sandy Cheeks. And today we get an official look at the latter character’s pair, with the SpongeBob x Kyrie Low 2 “Sandy Cheeks”
Don’t mess with Texas, and definitely don’t mess with roughest, toughest squirrel in Bikini Bottom, Sandy Cheeks. A rodeo champ who is also skilled in karate, Sandy gives Bikini Bottom added edge while serving as SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star’s unfailing friend. Made in collaboration with Nickelodeon, the Kyrie Low 2 “Sandy Cheeks” sports colors inspired by Sandy’s iconic spacesuit.
A release date for the SpongeBob x Kyrie Low 2 “Sandy Cheeks” has been set for August 10th and will arrive in full family sizing, from toddlers to adults. While you wait on the release, take in an official look at Sandy’s pair below, which is scheduled to arrive at select stockists and Nike.comfor $110.
