Professional skateboarder John Rattray’s “Why So Sad?” initiative was created to raise awareness and start the conversation about mental health amongst youth. That mission will undoubtedly get a shot in the arm this year, as Nike SB has tapped the Scottish skater for a collaborative Nike Dunk Low.

Expected to be part of this fiscal year’s fundraising efforts, the Why So Sad? x Nike SB Dunk Low is noted to receive a two-tone blue palette, complete with contrast stitching and special insignia. Its Swoosh is treated more uniquely, as its navy finish rubs away to reveal yellow, perhaps serving as depression’s mask on happiness. The aforementioned motif — a skateboarding chicken — continues a theme Rattray has incorporated on merchandise in the past. All of this rests atop a simple white midsole and translucent rubber outsole to complete the design.
