Regardless of your stance on the topic, sneaker-loafers are here to stay (at least for the time being). The latest offering arrives from none other than Nike and the Serena Williams Design Crew (SWDC).
Unveiled via Instagram by atmos Creative Director Hirofumi Kojima, the silhouette is exclusively for Women. Titled "Air Max Phenomena," the design surfaces soon after the Women's Air Jordan Mule has stirred by the internet. Both models take the Swoosh conglomerate's performance heritage and repackage it in elevated, dressier presentations.
Unlike its counterpart, the Air Max-cushioned design features a traditional heel instead of a mule-friendly setup. An Air Max 1-reminiscent mudguard appears across the upper's lower-half, while tumbled leather construction appears elsewhere, following design principles established by traditional loafers. A "Metallic Silver" swoosh lands on the mid-foot strap on the sneaker-loafer's inaugural "Black" look. A pull tab at the heel is partly-attached to a padded component atop the inner lining. Underfoot, the sole unit is reminiscent of the Air Max Sunder, further connecting the modern proposal to the Swoosh's back-catalog.
Stay tuned for firm Nike.com release details of the Air Max Phenomena SWDC. In the meantime, enjoy official photos of the sneaker-loafer's "Black" style.
