Though the Nike Waffle One was officially unveiled in the middle of last Winter, the lightweight, breathable, sacai-like sneaker is undoubtedly built for Summer. So with the sweaty season upon us, what better time to release new colorways than now? Especially this one, a colorway clearly inspired by last year’s Union Air Jordan 4 — and its appearing at the same time as their latest Air Jordan 4 collaboration. A coincidence? We think not.
Ripping its colorway straight from August’s “Guava Ice” Air Jordan 4, the pair resents in an almost-identical mix of pink-tinted suede, bright blue, racy red, cream, and white — and it even incorporates a translucent finish, as per the Air Jordan 4’s plastic wings. The similarities don’t just stop at the colors, with their placement leaving no ambiguity to its inspiration. Collars of blue meet red checks at the collar and midfoot, while pink suede work around the heel, forefoot, and eyestay overlays. There are some differences, though, with blue toes and white midsoles prevalent.
