Fumito Ganryu Unveils 3D-Printed Puma Mostro

If you weren't familiar with Fumito Ganryu before last week, you might be familiar now. The Japanese designer showcased an impressive range of products during the most recent Paris Fashion Week–which included a 3D-printed Puma Mostro collaboration.

Having spent more than a decade working under Junya Watanabe and Rei Kawakubo, Ganryu has developed a talent for patterns and proportions. His previous work for the German sportswear company skewed towards the traditional, but his take on the Mostro abandons any notion of tameness in favor of the extra-extravagent. Co-branding is kept to a minimum on the collaboration, but the model's enlarged, spiked sole unit ensures spectators know the shoe is Fumito Ganryu's doing. A traditional lacing system replaces the series of straps found on other futuristic Puma Mostros. The model's second-half showcases just what's possible in the world of 3D-printing–especially in the right hands.

No release details have been disclosed by either party, but that's likely to change around August. Expect the Fumito Ganryu Mostro to launch at select shops and for a hefty price tag.
