It's official: Rihanna and PUMA are no more. The Barbadian artist and business woman has recently been spotted wearing different versions of the Nike Moon Shoe—namely the JACQUEMUS collaboration—raising eyebrows as co-signing Swoosh product would surely go against her PUMA deal, which was reinstated in March 2023.
According to Lois Sakany of Snobette News, a source familiar with the matter has confirmed that Rihanna and PUMA have not renewed their deal, which was set for a term of three years. Specifics were not disclosed to Sakany, but it's no secret that the FENTY founder and Big Cat Brand were not able to recreate the success of their partnership's first go-around, which take place between 2014 and 2018.
The second iteration of the Rihanna and PUMA partnership played into football-inspired silhouettes and women-focused footwear styles like the Cat Flip Flops, but nothing translated quite like the FENTY Creeper and slides of the 2010s.
Moving forward, PUMA is betting big on partnerships with ROSÉ and Salehe Bembury—the latter having worked on the TRVL WEAR Collection for the 2026 World Cup™.
According to Sakany, Rihanna's partner, A$AP Rocky, is also not extending his partnership with PUMA past Summer 2026. The Harlem-based multi-hyphenate famously joined the Big Cat Brand in October 2023, possibly with some assistance from Rihanna.
For Nike, Rihanna's co-sign of the Moon Shoe is a huge win. Admired by countless women across the globe, "RiRi" will surely help the Swoosh move many units of the thin-soled silhouette.
