The gridiron has been graced by many legends, but none quite like Emmitt Smith. His legacy, marked by lightning-fast sprints and record-breaking plays, is intertwined with his iconic footwear - the Reebok ES22. First laced up by Smith in the glory days of 1997, the ES22 didn't just witness NFL history; it carried it on every inch of its leather and cushioning.
Reebok's social media has recently been stirring with excitement, heralding the return of this legendary silhouette. As fans reminisce about Smith's NFL journey, from Super Bowl victories to Pro Bowl honors, there's an electric anticipation in the air for the comeback of the ES22.
Having just re-released it's original colorway, Reebok is back with a new flex.
The upcoming retro iteration of the ES22 abandons the shadowy hues of its OG retro for a dichotomous "Footwear White/Electric Cobalt" presentation. This revival is anything but muted, with the design opting for a pristine white foundation that elevates the vibrancy of the "Electric Cobalt" details. The captivating blue animates key areas of the sneaker, such as the mesh tongue, the dynamic pockets along the quarter, and the heel counter, ensuring that the eye-catching color strikes a visual chord.
Accompanying the blue is the plush branding on the mid-foot, adding a luxurious touch to the shoe's athletic design. The inner lining also shares in the cobalt celebration, enveloping the wearer's foot in a sea of rich color. True to Reebok's attention to evolution, the original gum soles have been swapped out in favor of a more contemporary white and blue palette that maintains the integrity of the silhouette while ensuring relevance in today's sneaker scene.
Reebok US has just confirmed the pair's release for midnight on November 17th.
